Little Cottonwood Canyon

We had a great ride today. A little shorter than last weeks, but great never the less. I really like this trail as you ride along the river the whole way up. The river was raging and at times you couldn't hear anything other than the rapids.

Of course I have pics! Here you go.

Classic Photography

There was a great article in this months issue of Popular Photography on "Classic" photography. The main premise of the article is about shooting photography with a classic look in mind. The photography in the article did look like old fashioned black and white photography, but shot with both film and digital. It reminded me of photos that I get with my Holga. They are grainy and show a lot of noise and you almost welcome the soft focus and grain of the photos. In a day when everyone wants smooth perfect photos at ISO 1600, it is kind of nice to accept the "imperfections" of the classics. Of course, a lot of what you shoot won't lend well to the classic look because it is full of modern objects. I really love the look of the photos and enjoy the fact that I can enjoy the photo without worrying about it being perfect.

Miss B and Tyson

Little Baylie had a dance performance in Odgen. She was super cute and her performances are getting better and better.

Tyson also had his last baseball game today. So we went to part of Baylie's performance and then Todd, Tyson and I went to his game. He played very well and got two hits. I was very proud of him.

You Know What Day It Is!

It's Tuesday, and that means mountain biking. These seem to be my only posts lately. Sorry. We went up to the Glenwild Loop which is near Park City. Down in the valley it was a little hot, 94, so it was nice to get up in the mountains and enjoy the cooler temperatures.

We had a ton of guys, and gal, (sorry Suzy) show up and it was a blast. We had a couple guys from Bogley.com, Utahmountainbiking.com and some just plain good guys. The ride was awesome, of course, and had kick butt downhill. Check out some more pics here.

Oh ya... way to go Celtics!!!!

Salt Lake City

I was downtown yesterday photographing a business conference and while they had a two hour break I decided to go wondering around the city to pass the time. I am not normally downtown in the late afternoon so it was kind of a different city than what I am use to. I loved it! There is almost a palpable energy. People moving in every direction. Cars, bikes, buses, trains, construction, and voices all going at the same time. More than once I would stop and listen to the hum of the city. I was part of that selfsame energy, but was also a witness to it.

I love to watch people and it was very cool to see a person hurrying past and wonder what they were doing in the city. Working, living, or just passing through? I was kind of envious. I love the city. There were so many people walking their dogs or out running after work. Others sitting outside and having an afternoon drink in the gorgeous weather.

Here are a couple of photos from my walk. They are almost exclusively from the temple square, which is a very fun place to shoot. Enjoy and maybe go roam the city for a while!

I had the chance to shoot two of my favorite models today. When I think they can't get any cuter I am once again shocked at how darling they can be. We had found a great place to shoot some photos some time ago and Jill really wanted to get some photos of Baylie in a white dress with the tall overgrown grass. Miss B was stunning! We had a great time walking around and trying to find some good angles. This was mid day so the light was pretty harsh. But there are ways around that. Find some shade or bring your own lights. We did both and the photos turned out great. One of my favorites is with Jill, Tyson, Baylie and baby Crew. Such a cute family!

The Bobsled

I have a bunch of photos from the last month that I want to post, but just haven't had the time lately. Don't worry. I will get to it.
I went riding with the fellas today. Ouch! The route we took had a monster uphill that seriously kicked my butt. It was a blast and I loved the trail. The downhill, which is called the Bobsled with good reason, was AWESOME!!!! Some of these turns were higher than 10-15 feet. We were flying down the Bobsled and you would get to the top of some of these turns and realize how high you were. It sure got the blood flowing. Here are a few of the pics.
