Tyson

Just wanted to post a quick photo of my super cute nephew. He made the All Star team and is quite the ball player. Check out this swing.

Gretchen, I hope you don't mind...

I stole this photo off my sister's Flickr stream because I thought is was gorgeous. It seemed to have a very dreamy look to the picture so I brought it into Photoshop and made it a little more surreal. I added the gaussian blur and messed with the contrast and the saturation. I think it is a touch more romantic. Great photo Gretchen.

Inspiration

I came across a listing for a loft here is Salt Lake. Aside from only being 800 square feet and an open loft I love everything about this space. But what really gets me going are the stained concrete floors. They are incredible. I WANT THEM! And the backsplash. It is gorgeous. The urban feel is really working here. They did a fantastic job decorating and making a small space very comfortable. They divided the space very well without making it look cluttered. They have our granite, which I really like, and they have the fridge that I would love to have. Check out the ceiling color. Amazing isn't it?

Inspiration

I was cruising through a photographers site (jonpauldouglass.com) earlier and came across this photo. There are many elements about the photo that I like. One being it tells a story, or at least I read a story into the photo. I suppose because I can relate to the guy sitting alone. I remember a few times sitting at a coffee shop reading and watching a group of people laugh, joke, or talk amongst themselves. I am very aware of dynamics in personalities and I enjoy watching them. In the photo I wonder what he is thinking. Does he want to be part of their group? Is he lonely? Is he annoyed that they are being too loud while he is trying to read? Is he day-dreaming? Who knows. I think it is great that a photograph can evoke such thoughts in someone else.

But that is not all that I like about the photo. I love the natural light look the photo has and I love the location. I love the haphazard way the photos are hung and, ironically, I like how none of the frames match and they aren't even straight! I dig the concrete wall too. I want concrete walls in my house.

Safari 4

I just opened Safari to go online and was I ever surprised to see the new version of Safari, Safari 4, opening. I update all of Apple's stuff automatically and this was quite a pleasant surprise. Safari now has this cool little Top Sites window that opens when you first open Safari. It populates the window with all of your Top Sites. I normally use iGoogle as my home page and have gadgets all over the page with my favorite bookmarks, twitter updates, calendar, etc., but I may be switching over to this new Safari page. I am a very visual person and this really works for me. Pictures of all my favorite sites! Awesome!

Inspiration

I love the brick and the black window and door accents. This is a
studio in Logan and the garage door has frosted glass on the bottom
two thirds and clear glass on the top. Very cool look.

Angie's Restaurant

"Where the locals eat." How is this for breakfast?

Dancing Man

I found this video over at chasejarvis' blog. He has a great write up about this video and the way it applies to creativity and being first and original. There is a little humor in the video, but it is very profound at the same time. How many of us are first, or would even dare be second? What about third? As others have commented, it doesn't matter if you are the 25th or 50th dancer. You are no longer original. We can all take a little something out of this video. Whether it is to trust yourself and open yourself up to embarrassment or ridicule or to be creative and spontaneous. Live your life like you mean it.

Concrete Sinks

Check out these awesome sinks at the No Name Bar in Park City. The
walls are acid rinsed stainless steel. I asked! Don't they look like
concrete?

Park City

A group of my co-workers and I went out for dinner after all of our
meetings. Of course I dragged them down this alley to get a picture of
everyone. We had a blast wandering around. Thank God for the ever
present iPhone.

Inspiration

I am always taking pictures of things that inspire me or things I
like. I have a folder on my hard drive where I normally keep these
images. I was talking with my very talented and creative sister Amy,
and we both thought it would be a good idea to post some of these as I
come across them. Some of you may like them or be inspired by them
also. So...

This photo is of the men's bathroom at the Stein Erickson Lodge in
Deer Valley. What I really like about this is the way the lights are
behind the mirror. I also like how the wall behind the mirror is a
wood surface. This really warms the light and gives the room a very
soft light without making the room dark.

Baylie in Black and White

We spent a wonderful afternoon and evening with my little sister and her darling family. They are all so photogenic and I always come away with fun and exciting images. I especially like the photo above for its simplicity. This is a wonderful picture of my niece with her tomboy'ish style coming through. Playing in the backyard with her brother, hair in total disarray and a tad bit dirty. She is beautiful!

Il Divo

This was one of the most powerful concerts I have ever been to. I had
chills throughout the show and tears in my eyes when they sang Mama
and I thought of my wonderful mom. I have never seen so many 40-60
year old's rush the stage when they came out for an encore. They were
amazing! Shaking hands, signing autographs, serenating a little girl
all while singing and performing. You truly felt they appreciated you
as a fan as much as we appreciate them as musicians. A truly gifted
group of men!

Smile Mr. President

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to photograph The President? Check out this video. It is really pretty interesting. I can't imagine the pressure though because everyone is going to be scrutinizing your work.

Class of 2009

Here are a few pictures from the shoot with Shiron the other day. She was so much fun to photograph and gorgeous on top of that. She had the sweetest personality and I was surprised how that personality shown through her eyes. They were vibrant! We had a great time wandering around and making some great photos.
